The Cycle of Life
Original painting on wood
About the Art
Beneath the Surface
Are they flowers, or are they something else? I create layered compositions that blur the boundary between the familiar and the abstract, and between what is visible and what lies beneath. Within these landscapes, fragments of flowers, ecosystems and memory emerge.
My work is informed by an enduring curiosity about the natural world not only its beauty, but the systems and processes that shape it. I draw on botanical forms, erosion, mineral formations and organic structures to explore growth, resilience, interconnectedness and continual change.
The painting process mirrors these cycles. Layers are built, concealed and revealed through an intuitive dialogue between deliberate composition and spontaneous mark-making.
Ultimately, I want the viewer to look beyond nature’s surface and consider the hidden relationships connecting living organisms, ecosystems and ourselves. Nothing exists alone. We are made from the same earth and part of the same interconnected web of life.
